Those of you hoping to take the reins and rustle up some trouble this October in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 will now have to hang up those ten gallon hats and saddle up for a bit of a wait. Rockstar broke the news in an blog post that touches all the key notes of a delay announcement. In order to “deliver the best experience possible for our fans” Rockstar will need “some extra time” because Red Dead Redemption 2 will be “the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware.”

The new window for release is now Spring of 2018.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.

Some New Screenshots to Tide you Over

Rockstar no doubt will have some new things to show us during this years E3, in the meantime however, they have released a handful of gorgeous screenshots from Red Dead Redemption 2.  You can check out the images in the gallery below, click on them to see them in their full screen glory.

These images seem to indicate that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a beautiful game. Not much else is known at this point about the game  Rockstar teased late last year. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us at E3 this year. What about you geeks? Are you upset about the delay? Sound off in the comments below and stick with DHTG as we’ll be following this game, plus a ton of other geeky stories.
