‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date Finally Confirmed!

After many years since the original release of the first Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar has finally confirmed a release date for Red Dead Redemption 2. They said on their blog:

We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

Rockstar, like few developers, has the desire (and financial ability) to simply delay a game again and again until it’s perfect. To be honest, Rockstar’s games sell themselves. They are aware of their impact and how well-received their releases will be.  Most gamers are aware of Miyamoto’s quote: “A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad”. Rockstar clearly understands this and it appears they live by it, considering this is the third time Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed.

My initial thought though is that the blog indicated the release date is for Xbox One and PS4 only. There is nothing detailing a PC release date. One would think they will follow the success of GTAV and release it on PC a year later with the multiplayer release. Are they planning on releasing it on PC at all? They’ve made no strides to re-release the original on PC, which is disappointing but understandable, considering the resources they’ve clearly put into Red Dead Redemption 2. I mean, the environments in the screenshots look absolutely gorgeous.

Rockstar first released a video for their new gunslinger title in October of 2016. Below is the most recent trailer, released last September. According to the description, Red Dead Redemption 2 is:

…the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.

My god, the hype train has really pulled into the station. Are you already booking a week off starting October 26? Are you nervous they may delay it again? What are you expecting Red Dead Redemption 2 to be like? Let us know in the comments!
