Rockstar Games has been teasing geeks all week over Red Dead Redemption 2 and it has us going insane. All year, rumors have been floating about Rockstar working on a new Red Dead title, but there hasn’t been concrete evidence. That is until this week.
Starting off Sunday, they changed the picture of all their social media pages to the bold Rockstar Games ‘R’ with the gritty red background that has been so iconic for the Red Dead games in the past. No actual statements. Just a minor tweak to their sites. Such a simplistic photo is definitely not concrete evidence, but it sure did have us geeks feeling hopeful.
It’s amazing how easily one simple photo can take the internet by storm and have everyone talking. People getting hopeful and wanting more. Then Rockstar Games decides to tease us just a little more. Releasing, on Monday, yet another simple photo to make us believe more is coming. So beautifully done. There’s an actual rising coming from the transition between the two photos. From the first; simple and red. Then you have a literal sunrise with some cowboys on the horizon. It’s such an amazing personification of the rising excitement of geeks everywhere. I tip my hat to Rockstar Games. (My cowboy hat.)
Finally, on Tuesday, Rockstar confirmed everything. Posting everywhere on their social media accounts. The same image, but with an official title. Red Dead Redemption 2! With minor release information; Fall 2017. Plus, a trailer date. October 20th, 2016.
The day has come. Climb aboard the hype, geeks. The trailer is finally here. The 68 seconds is packed full of gorgeous scenery, but not much else. There is no character identification, but it seems pretty prominent that it will follow the story of one man much like the original Red Dead Redemption. We hear a man speak giving instructions to run. Could the main character be John Marston’s son and the narration being John Marston himself?
“Listen to me. When the time comes, you’ve gotta run and don’t look back. This is over.”
See the full trailer below and leave your opinions, concerns, and excited outbursts!
No matter what, I have one piece of advice. Giddy-up, geeks. It’s going to be one hell of a ride!
