After the bomb

After the bomb

Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds…..

Those were the words of a tear filled Oppenheimer as he quoted a passage from the Bhagavad Gita, after the successful dropping of humanities most destructive, horrifying force…. The atomic bomb.

It has been 70 years since the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945 by the Enola Gay carrying “Little Boy” and on Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945 by Bockscar carrying “Fat Man”.  And the world still hasn’t forgotten (and will never) the absolute devastation created by, and inflicted upon human kind (and since never repeated).   We use these days to remember that “breakthrough” and it’s cost….  Please take a moment to reflect back, and remember all of those lives lost and impacted by humanities biggest mistake.
