I admit it, I’m a sucker for video game collector’s editions. I’ve amassed a moderate treasure trove of them and am going to keep grabbing more. When Square Enix told me they were going to do a limited collector’s edition of their upcoming Xbox One exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider, I did a virtual backflip. Not in real life because I would break my neck.
The Rise of the Tomb Raider collector’s edition is going to be slick as all hell with the foot tall statue of the game’s heroine herself, Lara Croft. As you can tell from the above picture, the statue is pretty detailed. She’s geared up for just about anything. Also included is a replica of her first find, a jade necklace. It appears as though it might be wearable with a long rope for the necklace.
Square Enix was kind enough to pop in a steelbook case for us fans and a replica of Lara’s journal from the game. Oh yeah and for those of you (myself included) who love your physical copies of games, they’re not going the Halo 5 route and are putting in a hard copy real life disc of the game. Yes!
The collector’s edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider will only be available at either the Square Enix store or the official Tomb Raider site. The price? $149.99. It seems collector’s editions have been pushing towards a new ceiling in price so this isn’t that surprising. All versions of the game will be available on November 10th for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.
What do my Tomb Raider geeks think? Something you’re going to get down on? Or is the price just too much? Hammer them comments.
