Rogue One star Diego Luna (Captain Cassian Ando) is attached to the Scarface reboot
Say ‘ello to our new lead actor for the Scarface reboot! Variety has released some huge news on the front of the upcoming reboot.
Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) is no longer attached to the film. Fans of his hit films like Training Day and The Equalizer will be disappointed by the news, but the report states that, “Fuqua very much wanted to do the film, and that he and his team were still trying to figure out a way to make it work even as Uni was meeting with other directors,” Variety reports. “But ultimately, Fuqua had already spent so much time developing the script for the next Equalizer that he simply couldn’t move on from a project he had so much invested in.”
Now that the disappointment is out of the way, let’s get to the better news. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Diego Luna has officially been attached to star in the film. This film will draw from both of the Scarface films that came before it in 1932 and 1983. It will focus on a Mexican immigrant looking to come up big in Los Angeles. The latest script has reportedly already been written by Boardwalk Empire’s Terence Winter.
What do you guys think of the news? Are you excited to see another adaptation of Scarface? The Al Pacino version is one of my all-time favorite films so I’m completely on board with another movie in that genre. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the reboot, so join in on the conversation in the comments below and tell us what you think!
