More Rogue One Characters to Appear in Star Wars Rebels?

The cast of Star Wars Rogue OneDon’t Hate the Geek recently reported that Forest Whitaker would reprise his role as the intense Saw Gerrera in upcoming episodes of “Star Wars Rebels”. Now, it seems as though another Rogue One character might be taking a turn on the small screen. Will we eventually see a definitive overlap in the timelines of these two stories?

In addition to the now clear connection through Saw Gerrera, Rogue One featured many “Rebels” Easter eggs. We see the Ghost starship in the final battle. We hear General Syndulla being paged on Yavin 4. Of course, we also see Chopper the astromech droid rolling along in a scene. Loyal viewers of “Rebels” picked these out with relative ease, in addition to the references to the main films. I’m trying to keep it spoiler-free here folks, don’t worry!

As if that weren’t enough, fans have come up with even more evidence. Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide has made a pretty substantial connection between the spinoff film and the Disney XD TV series. The book provides fantastic insight into the background of the film and its standout characters. Pablo Hidalgo wrote that Captian Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna in the film, once held the codename “FULCRUM”. This was when he was a “Recruitment agent in Albarrio sector”. Why is this so noteworthy? Fulcrum has been a codename consistently used in the “Rebels” series, taken on by agents such as Ahsoka Tano and Agent Kallus. We can deduce that Cassian was one of these agents. He mentioned that he had been part of the Rebellion from childhood, so the possibilities are almost endless.

At this point, we can only speculate if Cassian Andor will be featured in “Rebels”, as the show’s timeline speeds towards the events of Rogue One and A New Hope. Will Diego Luna join Forest Whitaker on Disney XD, further tying in the two stories? This Star Wars fan hopes so!

What do you think geeks? Should there be more crossovers between Star Wars TV shows and movies?
