The video, celebrating the wrap up of the latest story in the Star Wars Saga, shows us how different this iteration of galaxy far, far away is.
Director Gareth Edwards reasons on why making this Star Wars different is important is full of obvious passion. It almost sounds like a direct commentary on how many percieved Abrams’ “The Force Awakens.” Regardless, his approach does sound promising.
“…we’re making a film that’s right touching my favorite movie of all time. But then, if you’re too respectful of it, that you didn’t do anything new or different, take a risk, then what did you bring into the table?”
In the featurette, all the stars express the passion they have for this movie and the Star Wars universe in general. We also get to see some amazing behind the scenes footage of the film’s set pieces.
The somber music in the background slowly builds to an epic crescendo that drives home how this Star Wars story is a darker and more serious film than any before it. Even the battle scenes appear to be more visceral. This is likely due to the lack of any Lightsabers in the video what so ever. Instead we’re treated to a lot of hand-to-hand and gun play.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you geeks think of “Rouge One.” Are you excited by the idea of finally getting a Star Wars movie with out a Skywalker or Solo as the main protagonist? I for one can’t wait until December 16th when the film hits cinemas.
