Rule 32: Enjoy The Little Things
Shortly after the 2009 release of Zombieland, rumors have circulated of Zombieland 2. These rumors persisted for almost a decade but now we have some concrete news. The filmmakers let slip to Vulture while on a press tour that they are on track for Zombieland 2 to have an October release of 2019. On track for next year. That means there is a script and cast attached. Due to their increased popularity the once not so well known filmmaking team behind the original Zombieland ae finally in high demand and able to get back to the project that elevated them.
Rule 8: Get a Kick Ass Partner
So what makes this team special? Just look at their filmography. The director Ruben Fleischer, has gone from web shorts and TV shows to the highly anticipated upcoming Venom movie. The writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, they’re the duo (along with Ryan Reynolds) behind the Deadpool movies, along with a string of other huge movies. So not only is the Zombieland 2 finally happening, but Jessie Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin are set to return. That’s right, Columbus, Tallahassee, Witchita, and Little Rock are going to be back together again.
Rule 2: The Double Tap
So where is this sequel going? If the previous film was any indication on what’s going to be happening we know it will be tons of fun. I expect them to utilize the 10 year time jump and show what the world is like all these years later. Zombieland ends with the group leaving as a “family”. With most sequels, they will want to raise the stakes. How after surviving for 10 years in this zombie filled world will they be able to raise the stakes? I’m guessing like games like Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil, maybe the zombies will be mutating. I hope Zombieland 2 adds to our list of rules. We have 33 rules now, maybe after this movie finishes we’ll have 66, or possibly they’ll just break down each rule and why it doesn’t apply after 10 years. For now all we know is, it’s happening and I for one am looking forward to it. Who knows, maybe we’ll see more Bill Murray too.
