According to French gaming website, GameBlog.fr, A sequel to NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us is set to be revealed in the very near future. The report states that the game may be revealed before E3 and has a possible release date of March 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
The first Injustice game was released in April of 2013 and was a fighting game set in the DC Comics universe. The game was developed by Mortal Kombat creators, NetherRealm Studios. The game takes place in an alternate universe in which the Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane. Stricken with grief, Superman starts a new world order in which he is the ruler of Earth. Heroes and villains alike join Superman’s reign on man kind while a resistance faction led by Batman and Lex Luthor, seek help from the Justice League of another alternate universe. The game inspired a long running comic book arc.
To further add to the rumor, actress Katie Cassidy (who plays Black Canary on the CW’s Arrow) posted this on her Facebook page:
“The process of game making! Freakin awesome!!!”
Could this mean that there will be character skins from the CW shows? One can certainly hope.
As an avid fan of the first game and DC Comics, I cannot wait for a sequel! Here’s hoping that the rumors are true. What about you geeks? Are you excited at the possibility of a sequel? Sound off in the comments below.
