DHTG back at it again with that hot pro wrestling news! We’ll cover ROH sale rumours, speculate on who’s due for a return in time for WrestleMania, and more!

ROH Boss Says No Deal

WWF infamously bought their failing rival WCW sixteen years ago. At the end of the Monday Night Wars, Vince McMahon wound up on top – as he is happy to constantly remind the world. Since then, no other wrestling promotion has been able to rival the now-WWE on an even plane. Now, a decade and a half later, rumours have sprung up that the folks in Stamford, CT, have been going after Ring of Honor.

Despite all this, ROH COO Joe Koff has adamantly denied these rumours. In an interview with CBS, he stated:

“No. No, no, no. It’s very flattering and humbling to us. It validates what we’ve done. A lot of their current performers and stars are ROH guys and we have their history. So maybe the content of the backstories of Kevin Steen before he became Kevin Owens or AJ Styles’ run in Ring of Honor, Tyler Black (aka Seth Rollins), Claudio (Castagnoli aka Cesaro) … all of the guys who have wrestled for us. We have their backstory and where it began… That’s our content.”

Would you be surprised if ROH finds a home on the WWE Network, the night after NXT?

Will the WWE be… Deleted?

Brother Nero and Broken Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy’s Broken Brilliance has been on a tour of the indie scene. He and his brother Jeff’s (err… Nero’s) Expedition of Gold has led to the aforementioned Ring of Honor’s tag titles. However, hints have been dropped left and right, alluding to a return to the WWE. Many of these hints have come from Matt Hardy himself, including his response to a WWE tweet.

While these hints are largely Matt being his broken self, the word is that there are real negotiations happening with his former company. Seems like this indie run is just a pitstop on the road back to the WWE. I personally hope this legal battle with Impact Wrestling (the artist formerly known as TNA) over intellectual property pans out in the Hardy’s favor. We must see the Wyatts and the Hardys go at it!

The Demon King is Working House Shows…

…because the former NXT Champion and first-ever Universal Champion doesn’t deserve a proper televised return. In the old days, before the internet, a wrestler who recovered from injury could work some dark matches without the national audience finding out. Today, not only does the internet reveal all things, but the WWE’s own social media accounts share news of Finn Bálor competing in the ring again.

With Finn touring with the red brand once again, it’s only a matter of time before we see him on TV. Perhaps he’s even all warmed up for WrestleMania. The question is, where will he belong on the show with the likes of Lesnar, Goldberg, Owens, and Rollins?

My Favourite Time of Year!

WrestleMania is only a week away. This is it. This is our Super Bowl, World Series, and World Cup all rolled into one. Some exciting news comes from the list of matches leading up to Mania. WWE and NXT superstars will not be the only ones featured. Wrestlers from PROGRESS and ICW will perform as well, in a great new partnership between WWE and the indie promotions.

Will WWE use this showcase to poach talent to fill the ranks of NXT? Keep it locked to Don’t Hate the Geek to find out as we ramp up to the Show of Shows!
