Russell Crowe has confirmed that he is going to be part of The Mummy remake and will be playing Dr. Henry Jekyll. The Mummy will be part of the Universal Monsters movie universe. Crowe mentioned he had been in talks with the director, Alex Kurtzman, about the movie for awhile.
Crowe gave us a little taste of what we could expect from the remake saying it’s “designed to seriously scare the shit out of you.” This is pretty exciting news for horror junkies. The original movies, (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) which came out in the late 90’s into the 2000’s, starred Brendan Fraser and were more fantasy/adventure films than horror films.
The Mummy, which comes out on June 9, 2017, will also star Tom Cruise. Crowe talked a bit about his relationship with Cruise and said, “I’ve known Tom Cruise since 1992, or something like that. When he was married to an Australian, I was really good friends with him. But when he got divorced, I was part of the settlement package, and I went to Nicole [Kidman].”
Let me know below if you plan on checking out this movie next Summer, and I’m curious to know what everyone thinks of the Universal Monsters movie universe reboot?
