Deadpool’s Ryan Reynold’s is going to be a Pokémon
Detective Pikachu, the Sherlock Holmes-styled Pokémon game is becoming a live-action movie and Ryan Reynolds has been announced as it’s lead character. Justice Smith, who is playing an unknown character in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Big Little Lies actress Kathryn Newton have both been announced for the movie also. It will be directed by Goosebumps director Rob Letterman, so I assume there will be the same type of humor in this movie and it will definitely be geared toward a younger crowd. The movie will have Smith seeking Detective Pikachu’s help to find his father and Newton will be a journalist who helps them.
Where’s Danny DeVito?
Many fans speculated Danny DeVito when the movie was announced, but they have been let down. The speculation comes after this fan-made video, posted in January of 2016, hit over a million views.
While people were upset DeVito was not chosen for the role, I can see how it makes sense. Don’t get me wrong, I love Danny DeVito, but I’m pretty sure they want to gear this movie towards children and this portrayal may take away from that if he was chosen. But still, fans are blasting the decision on Twitter.

Another New Pokémon Movie
There have been twenty animated Pokémon movies, with the latest one coming out last month. With the huge success of Pokémon Go, it makes sense studios would be jumping on the opportunity to make another movie. Even though Pokémon Go has had some numbers drop, people are still playing and Pokémon is still relevant. With Reynolds joining the cast, Pokémon is going to continue to stay relevant.
