Ryan Reynolds, who plays everyone’s favourite merc with a mouth, will get his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! That’s right, superhero movies and comedies continue to gain legitimacy. The Deadpool star certainly deserves it, after a 25+ year career that has been as varied as they come.

After starting out on Canadian television, Reynolds went on to star and be featured in dozens of films. Even with his success in comedies such as Waiting… and others, it is obvious that 2016 has been his most successful year thus far. First, Deadpool, his R-rated superhero action comedy flick smashed box office records, and defied all odds. After serious delays and being produced on a relatively small budget, it became the highest grossing R-rated film of all time. He and the film won big at the Critics’ Choice Awards, MTV Movie Awards, and Teen Choice Awards. Reynolds was also just nominated for a Golden Globe, a career first for him.

According to the local CBS station, Reynolds’s star will be dedicated today on Hollywood Boulevard. He will be joined on stage by actress Anna Faris, as well as Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reynolds will be 2,596th recipient of a Hollywood Star, a major achievement for the actor who has plenty of films left in him.

Deadpool 2 begins filming in 2017, with John Wick director David Leitch at the helm. Reynolds also has two films set for 2017 releases, The Hitman’s Bodyguard with Samuel L. Jackson, and Life with Jake Gyllenhaal. Here’s hoping for even more smash hits from Reynolds, including as many Deadpool sequels as we can handle!

What do you geeks think? Do you feel that Ryan Reynolds deserves his star, or would you rather have waited until later on in his career? Let us know in the comments!
