If you’ve been waiting for a sign of when Syfy’s Supernatural drama-procedural Haven will be coming back then we have some good news! If you’re wanting a lot more Haven, then we might have some bad news…

Since the show’s 5th season wrapped up its first half in December of 2014 fans have been wondering when the show would come back and when we could expect more from the love triangle between Duke Crocker, Nathan Wuornos, and Audrey Parker (all played by Eric Balfour, Lucas Bryant, and Audrey Parker respectively). Syfy’s Haven Facebook page finally ended its silence earlier this month with a funny picture (the new “Straight Outta BLANK” meme) coupled with a cryptic hashtag saying #SaveHaven. This hashtag was first seen a few days earlier with the release of the Season 5 Part 2 teaser with no explanation then either.

The Facebook page then followed up today, August 18th, with a new post. One with a very short message. Unsurprisingly, this message is mirrored on their twitter pages as well.

This post was actually released in conjunction with official word, through way of an interview between The Wrap and showrunner Gabrielle Stanton, that the latter half of Season 5 will be the end for the series.

“I’m sure as a fellow TV fan, there’s nothing more annoying than when a show kind of feels like it might be wrapping up, but they just don’t address it, they don’t come to any kind of satisfying conclusion,” Stanton told The Wrap. “I always think that’s cheating the audience a little bit, of a nice satisfying ending. So we really looked at these 13 episodes as if… If we were indeed going to end, what would be the best ending we could possibly do for Haven?”

Stanton goes on to explain that they approaches this season knowing it could be their last, so things should wrap up ok, though it is disappointing that they will not be taking it any further.

With all this, the hashtag sort of gives just a tinge of hope (much like last year’s #SaveConstantine hashtag that hoped to save NBC’s hot but canceled Supernatural retelling of longtime Vertigo / DC Comics Character John Constantine) that the show could be saved. But, there lies the rub. Who could, would, or should try to save the show? No network station is going to do it with the way they run things, so we’re left with either cable networks (don’t hold your breath) or our various internet outlets. Netflix? Hulu?? Yahoo Video??? All have come to the aid of various television series over the past year to bring back new episodes of fan favourite series after initial cancellations… So could this be a potential successful save for Haven? We’ll have to wait and see.

At least one culprit of this choice to cancel could be a recent change to the way the Province of Nova Scotia handles tax credits with the film industry. For those who don’t know, Haven is filmed in the village of Chester about an hour outside of the capital city of Nova Scotia, Halifax. The Liberal Government of Nova Scotia announced earlier in 2015 that the previous (admittedly generous) tax credit the film industry has enjoyed in Nova Scotia for many years was to be cut significantly, much to the protestation of many filming projects, such as The Trailer Park Boys, Mr. D, and The Book of Negroes. There were rumours some time ago that this change would negatively impact Haven, but no official cancellation news until now has given it any credibility.

What do you think? Is Haven worth saving? If so, why and who should save it? If not, why not? Take a peak at the below at the teaser for Part 2 of Season 5 and let us know how you feel all around!
