I may have mentioned it once or really, let’s just say fifty times, but Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s run on Batman was just excellent. The most consistent book throughout DC Comics’ The New 52, it reexamined the Batman mythology in a new and fresh way that weaved long standing history with a modern sensibility and really added more to the Dark Knight and all related characters.
Since its conclusion, Snyder has stuck around Gotham a bit with All-Star Batman while Greg Capullo has been drawing Mark Millar’s sci-fi/fantasy comic, Reborn over at Image. It had been said by both men that they would reunite for a project at DC Comics, but nothing else has really be said beyond that.
Well wait no more, Snyder and Capullo are reuniting very soon! Capullo has announced that he’s signed a brand new contract with DC Comics. Once his work on Reborn is done, off he goes to make more stories with his pal, but not just any story, a big event story.
Snyder himself has said about the project back in October at the New York Comic Con, “Yes, we’re gonna be doing a big summer event, next year, next summer. It will be very Batman centric, and very rock ‘n’ roll.”
What can be gathered from this is whatever big crossover event comic DC has planned come summer 2017, its going to be headed up by the beloved team. Given the huge goodwill the team built up in over fifty issues of Batman, no doubt many comic readers will have their eyes on this one when its published.
