Some of us grew up watching Buffy the Vampire slayer during its original run. Soon, if not already, we will also receive our own class reunion invites in the mail. Don’t roll your eyes all at once.
However, there is a reunion to get excited for! The cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer celebrated its 20th anniversary. As a matter of fact, this would be the first time in a long time since the cast got together.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered on March 10th, 1997. In fact, it was originally a spinoff of the movie of the same name. Buffy quickly rose to stardom and slayed the hearts of viewers everywhere. We laughed, we cried, we even played the board game. Still, we never truly got Buffy out of our system.
Entertainment Weekly gets the scoop on the reunion. They even have a limited Edition cover, featuring the show’s most controversial couple, Buffy and Spike.
In my opinion, this reunion was long overdue. Similarly, much of the cast felt the same way. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy Summers, was excited for the reunion. “I’m so incredibly proud of what we all created. Sometimes you need distance to really understand the gravitas of that. I appreciate everything about the job. As an actor, all you ever want to do is leave your mark – you want to do something that affects people.”
And Buffy the Vampire Slayer definitely affected us. For this reason, we found ourselves going from ugly crying at Buffy and Angel’s breakup, to cheering the team on for defeating the Mayor at graduation. Buffy definitely had a hold on our feels.
Wish you were there to see the reunion in person? Well take a look at the video, it’s the next best thing.
