Critics are calling it “Chronicle meets Ironman,” and the trailer for Jacob Latimore’s latest film, Sleight, proves the description apt.
Latimore most recently played Raffi in the Holiday movie Collateral Beauty. He has also starred in The Maze Runner, and appeared in the Ice Cube, Kevin Hart comedy Ride Along. As well as a budding acting career, Jacob is also a talented music artist whose been preforming since as early as 2011.
Sleight is being directed by J.D. Dillard who also penned the film. Dillard previously worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens as part of production. Sleight was a hit at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival where it became one of the most talked about and anticipated movies. The world rights for Sleight were promptly snatched up by WWE Studios and BH Tilt.
Sleight tells the tale of Bo (Latimore). Bo is a street magician who has to take care of his younger sister after their parents pass away. Desperate to keep them off the streets, Bo turns to illegal means. But no crime goes unpunished, and soon Bo’s sister is tied up into the mess he’s created and subsequently kidnapped. Bo will have to use his street magic, and his very real powers to save her.
Sleight will hit theaters April 7, 2017. I really enjoy movies like this; When an average person is granted a special gift and has to navigate the world in a new way. It’s a nice change from the more bombastic superhero flicks we normally get. You geeks can check out the trailer below. After you do, let us know what you thought of it in the comments!
