Well, the first full look at Solo: A Star Wars Story. So first thing’s first, it looks pretty good. It presents plenty of fun and thrilling adventures, no doubt. However, I’m sure many will be looking to spot the differences in what Phil Lord and Chris Miller did and what Ron Howard filmed. I’m not because I don’t think a trailer can accurately show that, just the actual film itself. Regardless, I feel like that’s something that takes away from enjoying the movie. Hey, I’m a movie buff, too. I love Star Wars and details. However, when I see the movie, I want to see the movie, not feel like I’m giving myself a chore to do.
The Solo trailer does what it needs to: sell you a movie and present the story, which we finally get a bigger look at. Han gets recruited for a job to rob a mob boss and bad things will happen.
Alden Ehrenreich still seems right for the role of Han. He looks the part and certainly nailed the undeniable charm of the smuggler, too. Personally, Donald Glover is my favorite part of this trailer. He certainly knows how to nail down the smoothness originated by Billy Dee Williams. Glover is so talented it’s insane, and I feel like he’ll steal the movie.
Finally, we get our first look at Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos and he might need some skin lotion. Of course, there is Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra, Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett, Thandie Newton playing Val, Phoebe Waller-Bridge voicing L3-37, and Joonas Suotamo as the phenomenally aged Chewbacca.
The movie certainly looks to be a fun time to be had in the theaters, behind the scenes drama be damned!
