According to Heroic Hollywood, Sony’s upcoming Animated Spider-Man movie will star Miles Morales. A half black, half Puerto Rican teenager who’s been making waves in the comics. Though seen by some as a marketing stunt, Miles is a great character that many people can empathise with.
Tom Rothman, chairman of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, confirmed that the Sony Spider-Man Animated Movie will be not tie-in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this year’s Cinemacon.
“The film will exist independently of the projects in the live-action Spider-Man universe, all of which are continuing.”
The animated Spider-Man movie from Phil Lord and Chris Miller is due for release December 21st 2018. I’m looking forward to it. Miles Morales has a few tricks in his powerset that Peter Parker doesn’t, as well as having a great story that has made the Spider-Man comics a lot of new fans. The Sony animated Spider-Man might be able to hold its own, or even stand out, against the MCU’s Spider-Man Homecoming.
