Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Debuts its Teaser Trailer

While Peter Parker is the one swinging through New York City in live-action, the realm of animation belongs to Miles Morales when it comes to the big screen. The upcoming animated Spider-Man film from Sony not only has a name now but also some footage to show off just what we can expect in a year’s time.

Check out our first look at Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse!

Well, that wasn’t at all what I expected and that is certainly a good thing. The soundtrack perfectly fits what we get and that is plenty of good ole Spidey action! I do look like the look of the animated as a blend of sorts between CGI and some claymation given when we’re up close with Miles. No plot yet, but it seems we are firmly set in the Ultimate Universe with the obscured grave of Peter Parker briefly appearing, but we’re also diving into the Spider-Verse itself as it seems we might get a Peter Parker appearance after all. Certainly intriguing and well might just be necessary to explain the circumstances as to why people are seeing a new web-head.

To catch everyone up if you don’t already know, Miles Morales is the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe, an alternate world launched by Marvel in 2000 as a way to re-imagine the Marvel Universe as if it started up here in the modern world, also it can do so without decades of that pesky continuity.

Mile Morales without the mask

Morales debuted in 2011, created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli to replace Peter Parker after his death in the Ultimate Universe.

Spider-Verse was a recent Spider-Man centric crossover focusing on the many Spider-Men characters throughout the Marvel Multiverse done by Dan Slott and Oliver Coipel in 2014.

Miles here will be played by Shameik Moore (Dope, The Get Down) with Levi Schreiber as the unnamed villain, Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage) as Aaron Davis, and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, The Book of Mormon) as Jefferson Davis. The movie is being directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey from a script by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who developed the story with Alex Hirsch.

The movie is due out December 14, 2018.
