Stan Lee Asks Twitter to Reveal Favorite Avengers & They Spoke!

written by Laura Mechem May 16, 2018

If you have managed to escape watching Avengers: Infinity War so far, go watch it. Then come back and carry on reading about who the fans have named as their favorite Avengers!

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Spoiler Alert

So fans want to talk about Infinity War and Twitter is serving as the perfect platform for the Marvel fandom. Fans love talking about their favorite Avengers characters and moments from Infinity War. There are commiserations for our fallen comrades, resurrection theories aplenty, and a plethora of insensitive and hilarious “dust” memes. Then, Stan Lee himself weighed in, asking Twitter who their favorite Avengers were in Infinity War.

Here is a rundown of the fan responses to the Twitter question of the moment. The fans have spoken!

5. Loki

Actor Tom Hiddleston as Loki, one of favorite Avengers

There is a lot of love out there for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and it is easy to see why. He has been with us since the early days of the MCU, serving as the perfect antagonist to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. He is the villain everyone loves to… well, love. Hiddleston’s performance has been outstanding from the start, capturing the God of Mischief’s character. As fans, we have been part of Loki’s journey. Perhaps, that’s why fans are finding it hard to let go. Loki’s death, early on in Infinity War, is a gut punch and reminded us that none of our beloved characters were safe. Although the fans don’t seem to be giving up on him yet, just check out the #LokiLives and #BringLokiBackAlive hashtags on Twitter!

4. The Guardians

The Guardians of the Galaxy become fan favorite Avengers in group photo including Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Nebula, Drax and Star Lord

The Guardians of the Galaxy remain a popular choice. I had to include them as a group as there is no stand out winner. Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Drax, and Star-Lord all get a mention in the fan responses. The fans love Drax’s humour and Bautista’s performance has gone from strength to strength. Fans seem to have forgiven Star-Lord for being a significant contributer to Thanos’ victory, as he was suffering from the loss of his love, Gamora, after all. Rocket and Groot – well what’s not to love? Plus, in true Guardians style, they gave us one of the best songs on the soundtrack, The Spinners’ “Rubberband Man”.

3. Spider-Man

Tom Holland as favorite Avenger Spider-Man unmasked

Spider-Man’s death at the end of the movie was, in my opinion, the most heart-breaking moment of the film. We have watched Tom Holland’s Spider-Man grow (literally and figuratively). From his humble beginnings in Captain America: Civil War to his first standalone movie Spider-Man Homecoming, the fans love the new Peter Parke. We finally got to see Spidey fighting alongside the Avengers, right where he belongs. It’s no wonder he is a fan favorite, and I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him yet, not with a second Spider-Man movie in the works for 2019.

2. Iron Man

Iron Man in Avengers: Inifinity War

Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark was the starting point for the MCU a decade ago. He really has been through it all and we have watched Iron Man evolve, unmask, fall in love, retire, come back, face death (lots) and still come out fighting. Downey, Jr. (just like Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans) is only contracted for one more Avengers movie, so some fans speculated that they may have been on the other end of Thanos’ finger-snapping gauntlet. However, all three of these original Avengers made it out alive. This begs the question: what will be in store for them in Infinity War Part 2 next May?

1. Thor

Chris Hemsworth as Thor with eye patch in Marvel's Infinity War, fan's favourite Avenger

Who else could it have been other than our favorite God of Thunder? Thor was the standout amongst fan responses on Twitter and it’s a sentiment I mirror. Thor: Ragnarok has played its role in reinventing Chris Hemworth’s Thor, a performance which continues to impress. The character has certainly been put through his paces in the last few films. Think of all that he has lost: his trusty hammer Mjolnir, his mother Frigga and father Odin, his friends, his girlfriend, his homeworld of Asgard, his eye, and then his brother Loki (again). Thor should be completely lost, yet finds a strength in Infinity War unlike any we have seen before. And it still wasn’t enough.
