EA CFO Blake Jorgenson confirmed that Battlefront 2 is on its way with even “bigger and better worlds” at a recent earnings call. That’s good to hear considering the mass reaction to the Star Wars: Battlefront that released last year was less than satisfactory.
During the earnings call, Jorgenson mentions that the sequel title will feature more content from the movies beginning with Episode VII: The Force Awakens. This has potential to add a little something new. Those who have played the previous Battlefront will note that they featured aspects from the original trilogy.
Despite the lack of an enthusiastic reception from many gamers, the first Battlefront roped in a whopping 14 millions copies sold world wide which exceeded the expectations placed upon the title’s release.
EA (Electronic Arts), who are big fans of their annual releases, did mention during the call that they have planned out the next three to four years to include annual releases of the new Star Wars games. We have reached out to EA’s press team for clarification – during the call Jorgenson mentioned that we could expect the next installment to drop next year but did not clarify if he meant in terms of the fiscal year or standard calendar time.
If that isn’t enough Star Wars goodness for you EA did announce on Star Wars Day, May 4th, that a new action-adventure game based off of the epic franchise will be heading our way by the developers of Titanfall: Respawn. It will be interesting change for the shooter aficionado.
