I know you feel it too; Those subtle ripples in the Force. That unmistakable feeling in the air that something big is about to go down in the world of Star Wars. Trust your feelings Padawan, because Disney and Lucasfilm have announced Force Friday II. The event kicks off Friday September 1st, and with the announcement came the debut of packaging for the new line of toys for The Last Jedi.
Rey, Finn, and Poe are featured on the box art in the manner they will appear in the film. There are some small changes to their styles; Rey’s hair and outfit being different is most obvious. These toys will not be the only thing unveiled on Force Friday II, there will be so much more.
During the first Force Friday in 2015, ahead of The Force Awakens, a treasure trove of Star Wars info and merchandise was released. According to Starwars.com, the event unfolded over 18 hours as people lined up in droves to get their hands on toys from the latest Star Wars film. Hundreds of thousands across 12 countries participated, and millions watched the live streams as lucky fans un-boxed their prizes over YouTube. Star Wars had become a global phenomenon again.
Disney and Lucasfilm are hoping to exceed the spectacle this year during Force Friday II. Books, toys, and more for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be revealed, and they will go on sale at 12:01 AM September 1, 2017. If the first Force Friday is anything to go by, you might want to start lining up a bit earlier than that. September is right around the time people start considering the holidays, so no doubt the merchandise will fly off the shelves faster than Han’s Kessel run.
Lego is also joining in on the action again this year, stating that:
“It was so much fun to be a part of Star Wars Force Friday, and we can’t wait for fans to join this year’s celebration as we reveal new Star Wars: The Last Jedi products during Force Friday II — a global event that will connect fans and families, and allow them to build, create and share their experiences with others.”
Geeks, it’s going to be a Star Wars bonanza, as Force Fever is making its rounds across the globe. Have you been bitten by the bug yet?
