It had long been a pipe dream to have a full-fledged live-action TV series of Star Wars. Well, dream no more!

It is official, a live-action Star Wars series is on its way, but not only that, Lucasfilm has tapped Jon Favreau to come onboard as an executive producer and writer of the series.

Well to say this news is huge would be an understatement akin to say that the Chrysler Building is really tall.

Favreau himself can’t contain the excitement saying,

If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.

Favreau has been in the world of Star Wars before having voiced Pre Vizsla on The Clone Wars series and even has a small role in the upcoming Solo. Favreau seems to be really high up in Disney ever since he helped kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe a decade ago with Iron Man.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said about the announcement,

I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform. Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.

Well at least we do have an answer as to where to expect the show, on their impending streaming service, but no release date for the series has been announced yet, but I assume that’s because its still in the early stages of development.

Oh boy, what a time to be a Star Wars fan.

How excited are you for the series? What characters do you hop show up? Let us know in the comments!
