Roland Emmerich has announced that he wants to do a Stargate Reboot. Emmerich also has directed Independence Day, and Independence Day: Resurgence, with Independence Day 3 already in the works. Emmerich originally would have done a continuation of Stargate, however, he wants to start all over from the beginning.
As his main reasoning for a reboot rather than a sequel is timing.
“It’s not a story that can take place 20 years later. So the only way to really tell that trilogy is to go back from the beginning and start the story all over again.”
Many fans will remember that Stargate had many memorable lines. As well as the character Doctor Daniel, who most likely inspired Atlantis: The Lost Empire, to create MiloThatch. Stargate also inspired many TV adaptations, including Stargate: SG1 (1997-2007), Stargate: Atlantis (2004-2007), and Stargate: Universe (2009-2011). It almost seemed as though Stargate had lost its appeal. However, with this new reboot coming out, we can hope this series will continue on, better than ever.
The cast for this reboot has not been announced as of yet. A release date hasn’t surfaced either. However, we can have high hopes for this story as the original director is behind it. Let us know what you think about a Stargate Reboot in the comments!
