**WARNING! POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 OF STRANGER THINGS BELOW!**
When we last saw Eleven during season 1 of Stranger Things, she seemingly gave her life to save her friends from the Demogorgon. Many fans, myself included, wondered what became of her as we didn’t actually SEE her die. Well, never fear viewers! Sources have told TVLine that Millie Bobby Brown will be returning as the fan favorite in season 2.
Many people thought El wouldn’t be returning with the casting of American Odyssey’s Sadie Sink as a “tough and confident” girl named Max whose “appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.” Show-runners Matt and Ross Duffer also said Brown coming back as El was still, “up in the air” over the summer.
While we don’t have any details about in what capacity she’ll appear on the show, TVLine again says they think she’ll be a regular for season 2, which is going to be 9 episodes long. The general synopsis for season 2 is that it’s 1984, about a year after Will’s disappearance, and that they’ll delve into “bigger mythology” behind Will Byer’s disappearance in season 1. Since that’s all we really have to go on, I could see them using El in flashbacks to season 1 instead of having her exist in present time. Again, we didn’t actually see her die, but it sure seemed she knew she was sacrificing herself in her fight with the Demogorgon.
Season 2 of Stranger Things doesn’t air until 2017 so there’s plenty of time for speculation. For those of you that have seen it, watch the clip below again and tell me what you think. If you haven’t seen it, go watch season 1 and come back to join in on the discussion!
El returning isn’t the only cast member that people are wondering about. The show-runners have released a viral video about the disappearance of another youth in the area, Barb Holland.
It’s been all but confirmed that Barb won’t be back for next season, but there’s always hope! What did you guys think of Stranger Things season 1? Join in on the discussion in the comments below!
