Look up in the sky, it’s not a bird or a plane, it’s Supergirl flying high towards a series renewal.
News has finally come as to the fate of the television series and its soaring straight to a new home on the CW. Talks were coming down to the wire for the DC Comics show before the network upfront presentations in New York City.
Supergirl making the move to CW was brought up in negotiations since the network is a product of both the show’s production company, Warner Bros. and its original network home of CBS. Despite being the highest rated premiere for the latest fall season, ratings majorly dipped afterward. It maintained a steady core audience in spite of falling behind the comedies on CBS’ Monday schedule. Said ratings were a factor in CBS possibly dropping the show altogether since it roughly costed $3 million per-episode and they felt like the numbers didn’t justify the cost.
Supergirl will now join the already stacked DC Comics line-up at CW with The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and iZombie. This will certainly make crossing over with The Flash again much easier.
No doubt the news makes series star Melissa Benoist, and the rest of the cast and crew, very happy.
