Supergirl is inviting family along to help move into her new home on the CW, particularly the Man of Steel himself.
Having previously appeared only as a CGI character with his face constantly obscured or instant messaging Supergirl, Superman will make a full on screen appearance in the first two episodes of Supergirl‘s second season this fall when it premieres on the CW. As expected, Henry Cavill himself will not be donning the red cape on TV given his status in the DC Comics films and casting right now is underway for TV’s latest version of the Last Son of Krypton.
Co-creator and executive producer Andrew Kreisberg was more than excited to share the news, having previously expressed his eagerness to bring Superman on the show properly. Saying that you need to cast Superman correctly in order to really do Superman the way he should be portrayed.
The show itself already has one former Superman on the show in the form of Dean Cain, who played the role on ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman back in the 90s. He currently portrays the adoptive father of Supergirl, Jeremiah Danvers. Rumors have flown around for a while that Tom Welling, who played Clark Kent for ten years on Smallville would reprise the role on Supergirl. Welling himself has stated no one has asked him about the possibility.
Cain himself even popped up on an episode of Smallville.
How excited are you for the news and who do you hope plays Superman? Let us know in the comments below!
