Superman’s red cape and boots went to Tyler Hoechlin for CW’s ‘Supergirl’

After Supergirl jumped to the CW, home to superheroes, the talks of not only crossovers with the CW’s other heroes happened but also the full fledged appearance of the big boy scout himself, Superman, started. Who would play him though? Surely one of TV’s recent or not so recent cape wearers would make a great choice. Nope, we found out that the cape has been passed on to Tyler Hoechlin.

It's Tyler Hoechlin

A lot of us were rooting for CW to have the seasoned Tom Welling of Smallville reclaim his mantle of Superman for the smaller screen. A shorter group even called for Lois and Clark’s Dean Cain to become Superman once more. However it was the third requested choice that grabbed the eyes of producers, Teen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin.

The role of Superman was a tough one to fill, not only due to the talent pool, but also due to the fact that the show runners of Supergirl wanted to make the show about Kara and less her famous cousin. The problem with that is Clark makes appearances in her comics so it’s only natural that he would pop up in her show. Plus, let’s face it, he sells ads.

Hoechlin certainly fits the bill as a young Clark Kent but can he pull off a seasoned Man of Steel? Only time will tell.

What do you geeks think? Are some of you bummed that Welling didn’t make the cut? Any of you familiar with Hoechlin from Teen Wolf? Dodge the kryptonite and land on the comments below!
