Android Market Hits it’s 200,000th App??

Hard to believe that it was a little over a year ago that the Android OS, with the help of Verizon and the Droid campaign, that the Android Market had only 5,000 apps. Since then, the plattform has made leaps and bounds and has become possibly the most popular branded smartphone OS. With the open software initiative, tons of makers of devices and a VERY loyal crowd of followers, Android has really made a name for itself. So from the days of a small amount of “popular” and amount of apps, the Android Market has landed its 200,000 app in its market, as reported by AndroLib.
Android has doubled its app count from 100,000 in just a two month span as reported in late October 2010. This app count has not been offcially recognized by Google, but anyways, this is a tremendous accomplishment for Android. The leader of apps, iOS or Apple, did not achieve this amount of apps this quickly when it hit this magic number. So the question is, what is Android doing right to capture the “most apps” crown? Android Market Officially Hits 100,000 Apps

Only a matter of time, and it really didn’t take too much time at all. Today Google announced via their own Twitter account that it has officially hit 100,000 apps in its Android Market.
From reports out and about, the Market had only around 5,000 apps around a year ago. With more Android devices through major carriers like Sprint, T Mobile, AT&T and Verizon, the number of apps blew through the roof. It was estimated that it only took three months to go from 70,000 to 100,000 and seven months to go from 30,000 to 70,000, not too shabby. Of course Apple still has the most apps out there with an estimated 300,000.
With more and more Android devices being announced as well as Android powered devices, apps are going to increase and get better. It’s hard to imagine that just a few years ago, we had no idea what the future had in store for us. Think you could go back without these apps, well think again.
