Netflix, PS3 go disk-free
Last Updated on Thursday, 14 October 2010 04:53 Written by baldalbino Thursday, 14 October 2010 05:00
PS3 owners can start the celebration! On October 18th, Netflix will no longer require the disk for streaming. But wait……….there’s more! Netflix also will stream some contect in 1080p resolution and with 5.1 surround sound. Netflix has partnered with Dolby Digital Plus for the surround sound.
Netflix has stated that the 5.1 surround sound will come to the other platforms in time but that consumers will have to wait. That may take a while, depending on how this launch on the PS3 goes. However, it certainly shows that the Microsoft exclusivity period seems to be over and done with.
