Bring on the Halo 4 Limited Edition Console!

Oh come on now, don’t tell me anyone was surprised at the notion of Microsoft readying a sexy new console to coincide with the release of Halo 4? Is it even fair to call what we know, what we’ve seen, as a leak when it was a foregone conclusion?

What we’re looking at for the Halo lover is a sexily designed console by 343 Industries, a 320GB beauty with Halo 4 inspired sound effects. A pair of  equally awesome controllers will be packed in the box, alongside a standard copy of Halo 4 and the “Hey, it works” black Xbox Live headset. There’s also expected to be a healthy helping of DLC to make the experience all the more great. There should be avatar props, avatar armor, weapon skins, emblems and even some spiffy armor skins.

The console and controllers will be made out of a clearish plastic so wannabe Spartans can see inside as they play well into the midnight hours. The controllers will also sport blue LED lights and the semi-new rotating D-pad. The price point is looking to be at that $399 figure, which isn’t too bad considering you’re getting the game and bigger hard drive than the $299 version. Odd enough, there doesn’t seem to be a brand new Kinect sensor in the bundle. Oh well.

Keep your eyes tuned to Comic Con all weekend, the official announcement is expected then.

The most annoying Halo footage ever. [VIDEO]

Is it leaked Halo 4 footage or isn’t it? After watching the recent video leaking supposed Halo 4 multiplayer in action, I could care less. Why? Because it has to be the most annoying leak video I’ve ever watched. VHS tape? Check. TV resting on a hay bale? Check. Ridiculous music so grating it can turn a deaf man into a homicidal maniac? Triple check. I’m no video producing genius, heck I can screw up the lighting, but come on now. Somebody needs to find this person and clear the pot smoke out of his ears so he can recognize music not garbled trash.

I’ve been hearing rumors that 343 Industries and Microsoft are in on this, for their sake I hope not. We’ve seen some off the wall, weird and just plain lame marketing stunts but this one takes the cake (real cake not cake made to trick test subjects). I designate this video NSFPWFE – Not Safe For People With Functioning Ears. Go ahead and hit the break and watch it your selves geeks, just have some Alleve handy.

Halo 4 going Limited Edition this fall!

While not exactly a secret, this is Halo after all, Micrsoft pulled the curtain back on the Halo 4 Limited edition. So it doesn’t come equipped with a large plastic monstrosity (darn!), it still aims to capture the Halo fans’ hearts and cash. For $99, buyers get the game (duh!) inside a custom steelbook, a slew of launch and post launch DLC, Avatar goodies, featurettes and the real world UNSC Infinity Brief Packet.

The DLC contains a healthy mix of digital treats for the avid fan. There will be three post launch map packs released (release schedule TBD), each of them hosting three maps. That’s nine maps for those who suck at multiplication. Available day one will be a Spartan armor skin, Assault Rifle skin and emblem – all used in-game. Also packed in will be early access to the Specializations for your Spartan warrior. Specializations can be used to hit higher ranks in your career, add customization options and more. 343 promises to drop more info on these at E3.

Looking for other items to get your motor running? How about a new, shiny set of Spartan armor for your Xbox Avatar? Maybe a prop so they don’t feel lonely? Yep, the limited edition has you covered there. Plus the 90 minute live action Halo 4: Unto Dawn comes along. The series is a prelude of sorts to Halo 4 and tells the tale of a cadet who becomes a force to reckoned with on the UNSC Infinity.

More after the jump…
