The original Cowardly Lion costume from 1939’s classic The Wizard of Oz is going to be up for auction on Monday at Bonhams in New York. Variety noted that another costume that was used as a secondary costume had been sold in recent years at around $1 million. Now I just can’t imagine how much the original might go for.
The costume will be up for auction among other items in movie history. Hollywood memorabilia that has been a part of “TCM Presents: There’s No Place Like Hollyood” such as Sam’s piano from Casablanca will be included in the auction. Other mentionable items include Marilyn Monroe’s saloon gown from River of No Return and Clark Gable’s riding jacket from Gone With the Wind.
What do you think geeks? Would you like to own a piece of Hollywood history? If so, what would it be? Let us know in the comments below!
