Rare Apple 1 Goes For $374,500 At Sotheby’s!

Awhile back Don’t Hate The Geek reported about a rare Apple 1 computer from 1976 that was set to be auctioned off at Sotheby’s auction house. There’s only thought to be about 50 of them in existence and this particular one  was expected to go for around $180.000. This past week the hand-built original designed by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak went to one lucky phone bidder for a whopping $374,500. Apple Insider reports that this is one of six Apple 1′s currently accounted for of the estimated 50 that are supposedly still out there.

In other Steve Jobs related auction news, a hand written note from his days at Atari was also auctioned off. The note went for $27,500, about twice as much as initially thought. Well geeks I don’t know about you but I for one am going to hold onto all my Apple products in hopes that they are still a hot commodity on the auction block in a few years time. Do it for the kids, buy a WOW server blade for charity.

Blizzard went through and swapped out a bunch of their World of Warcraft server blades and what better way to get rid of them than by a charity auction? The company has decided to hold an eBay auction with the proceeds going to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The blades will be auctioned off in batches over the next four weeks, the first one is scheduled to start October 17th.

Blizzard has approximately 2,000 blades from roughly 500 different realms across North America and Europe. The blades will be stuffed inside a plastic case embossed with the WOW logo. Also included will be a team signed commemorative plague to show all your friends you have authentic merch from Blizzard. Really though, you need it for the kids.

Get Paid While Playing Diablo 3

I love me some Diablo!  I remember playing the first one on the PlayStation One console and thinking that it was awesome, however, that was nothing compared to playing the second installment on the PC.  The ability of what the PC was capable over the PSOne was remarkable.  The graphics were crisper and it was even more fun than ever before.  The only drawback that I had was that playing on the PSOne I was able to play with family members and friends.  I never did that on the second one.

Now Diablo III is getting ready to be released after a long bout of absence.  Blizzard, the makers of the game, has incorporated a new item into the game.  Much like the auction house in Blizzard’s other hugely popular game, World of Warcraft, Diablo III will also sport an auction house.  The main difference between the two is the in Diablo III you will actually earn real money for items that you sell!  Say what???
