HTC at MWC: HTC One V! [VIDEO]

It’s that time of year again geeks, that time when our favorite makers of mobile goodness swarm Barcelona and introduce their upcoming devices to the thirsty masses. Mobile World Congress has once again begun and HTC is tossing out some new phones for fans of all ages and tastes.

The HTC One V is the first herald of the manufacturer’s newest offerings. Built as lower end device, it’s a great starter phone for new entrants into the smartphone arena. Running Android 4.0, covered in Sense 4.0 and covered in a dark grey aluminum body, it has that svelte appeal sure to bring in folks looking for something new and friendly.

Inside the device will be a 1GHz simple single processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, Beats audio, 5 megapixel backdoor camera, omnipresent Gorilla Glass and a smaller 3.7 inch LCD screen. The camera is to benefit significantly from the included ImageSense, an overhaul on the camera side of things. Decked out with an AF f/2.0 lens it will take 720p video like a champ. Sadly, as a lower tiered phone, the One V will not come with a front facing camera. No self portrait shenanigans for you! Also a curious design of the new One series is the enclosed, non-removable battery. The 1,500mAh battery might guarantee users bring along an external power source for extended trips from a wall socket.

No pricing, carrier or release date info has been dropped as of yet. Once we get more solid facts, we’ll drop them on you! Hit up the break and watch the promo video HTC tossed together for their inbound bundle of joy!

Rumor: Galaxy S III debuting in February?

That is of course the rumor we’re hearing. One year after Samsung unveiled the uber-awesome Galaxy S II, Sammy is expected to show off the next-gen device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Rumored to pack a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 12 mega pixel camera, Android 4.0, and a giant 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED screen, it would be a beast of a mobile sensation. Of course, every bit if this is a giant rumor cake covered with tasty tidbits.

One other rumor surfacing is that Sammy is floating the idea of adding some form of 3D to the phone. The company might want to set their device apart from the rest of the phones out there and if they pull it off, it might work. Or it might burn out spectacularly. Either way it should be a fun ride. And no, that’s not the phone. Merely a mock-up making its way around the web. Does look pretty though, doesn’t it? Unless you’re a barista.

The three that are suspected live in BarcelonaAlicante, and Almeria and have been released without bail says the New York Times. Now if these are the geeks that were involved and they get away I’m gonna get a little upset as it has really screwed up some of my personal game time! The Times also says that they ”were expected to be charged with forming an illegal association to attack public and corporate Web sites.” If they are convicted it could land these suspected crooks up to three years in jail. I am surprised they are only looking at three years. $171 million in loss and its only three years? Can’t you get more time for downloading an illegal MP3 these days? More after the jump…
