All You Need To Know About The Wii-U

As the holiday season grows ever closer, doubts were beginning to form in people’s minds about whether the Wii-U would actually make an appearance this year. PrE3- What to expect at E3 2012

The annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, or simply E3, is just round the corner running from 5th to 7th June. Held in the Los Angeles Convention Center it is arguably one of the biggest video game conventions, rivalling the likes of Pax and Gamescom, and thus attracts the big players in the video game industry, as well all they have to offer. So what could we be seeing at this years E3?

The main news from E3 tends to come from the conferences held by the three console leaders namely Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Undoubtedly this year Sony will be trying to regain some revenue after their appalling financial year by unveiling some big announcements. This will probably include a new line of Vita games, which is sorely needed, and also news on PS3 exclusives such as The Last of Us and Little Big Planet Karting. The Last of Us, developed by the team behind Uncharted- Naughty Dog, will have a lot of attention because details surrounding the game have been very sparse. We know that it revolves around two characters, Joel and Ellie, in a world ravaged by some sort of fungal-zombie apocalypse. Another game which we will be seeing more of is the not-quite-Smash-Brothers All Stars Battle Royale. Between Little Big Planet Karting and All Stars Battle Royale it seems Sony have been looking to Nintendo for some inspiration. What will definitely not be shown though is a new console, Sony have explicitly said that there will be no PS4 this year.

More after the break…

Hacked Vita runs Battlefield 3 and Arkham City

Yes that’s right, a Play Station Vita already running two of the biggest titles of last year.  But don’t rush out and buy a Vita just yet. Sony’s new handheld was running a hacked version of firmware 3.55 and used the remote play functionality to run these high end games. This is a bit odd though as Sony has recently released firmware 4.0 which has legitimate Vita support. Still it’s pretty darn cool and you cannot get the likes of Battlefield 3 on the Vita just yet.

The hack came from user homer49 who posted videos of not only Arkham City and Battlefield 3 but also Red Dead Redemption and boy does it look good running on the Vita. How long though until games like Arkham City will be officially released for the palms of our hands? We’ll just have to wait and see, and in the meantime bask in the glory of homer49′s work!

Get a handle on Robin in this Arkham City vid. [VIDEO]

He ain’t heavy, he’s my sidekick. At least that’s what a lot of us thought about the newer Robin. Personally, I haven’t downloaded the Robin DLC pack for Arkham City since I simply wasn’t sure about the Boy Wonder. Watching this video put together by Rocksteady has pretty much changed my mind. He’s not just Batman-lite here, he has some impressive moves in his repertoire. Robin can deflect bullets with a shield built into his staff whereas Bats has to duck and hide from them. He has a brutal looking zip-kick that just might cave in the chest of any unlucky goon on the receiving end. The best part might just be the Snap Flash, a mobile mine. Plant it on an unsuspecting baddie and let him get into a group of his cohorts then detonate. Boom goes the dynamite! Better yet, knock out him out, plant the mine and wait for them to come check it out. Just like Batman’s explosive gel, set it off when several get close for maximum damage!

The Robin DLC pack is available separately for 560 Microsoft Points ($7) or the recently released Arkham Bundle which also includes the Nightwing pack and the Batman Skins pack for 1200 MS points ($15). There’s even a video showcasing that dlc as well. Hit the jump the check both out and decide for yourselves!
