Red Mere Challenges Mindset on HDMI Cables
Last Updated on Wednesday, 13 October 2010 10:18 Written by baldalbino Thursday, 14 October 2010 11:30
Cable thickness often ties up the backs of our entertainment centers. Red Mere is making a change to the HDMI standards that we are used to.
According to Red Mere this is not done by reducing the size of the cables or by making them more flimsy. Red Mere states that they are using a decoding chip at the end of the HDMI cable that allows for more data to be streamed through the smaller cables than through the bigger ones.
The chip actually fits into the HDMI endpiece that allows for additional data transfer. We will probably see these cables coming packaged with systems by the end of the year or sooner. I think that this is a great option and look forward to taking advantage of freeing up my entertainment system.
