And so like all great things they must all sadly come to an end. The creator of perhaps one of the most notorious DC villains, the Joker, passed away on  the 7th December in his sleep at the age of 89. You may not be familiar with Jerry Robinson but I would be very surprised if you had not come across the Joker, one of Batman’s greatest enemies. Born in 1922 he studied journalism at the University of Columbia and was inducted into the Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2004, alongside greats like Steve Ditko and Stan Lee.

DC released a number statements from various editors and executives:
