With Google’s Spinal Tap referencing invites for tomorrow, it’s easy to see why many think they will announce their new Google Music Store. Images have leaked that show early screens of the service in action, along with a “Free Song of the Day”. Similar to Amazon’s “Free App of the Day” for the Appstore, Music will give users a song gratis from the collection of signed labels and artists. In these screen shots, the FSotD was Fine and Mellow by Deborah Cox.
The Music Store looks to also have free previews of songs and will even give recommendations of other artists based upon search\listening patterns. They will even have a “Free Song” area, separate from the FSotD. Much like Google’s “Free Books” section on Reader, they’ll have a smattering of songs for el cheapo users to populate their tune libraries with. Hopefully all will be revealed tomorrow at the Android Event in San Francisco.
