A brand new Thief is coming!

Eidos Montréal just doffed off the top of a new Thief coming in the future. Now we’re not talking the oft rumored Thief 4 that fans have been patiently waiting for, we’re looking at a redone Garrett is all his thieving glory.
Time has moved on. Power has shifted. New greed replaces the old.
But to remain free in the city of chains – that is still the greatest prize.
First I stole to survive… then I survived to steal.
I am one man; I hear your secrets, see your hidden truths.
I am the shadows, the dark and deadly, the velvet night. You will not see me coming.
I am Garrett….What’s yours is mine.
For those not in the know, the Thief series follows the elusive Garrett as he sneaks around a mash-up of steampunk fantasy and Victorian era backdrops ripping off anyone he wants to. The player uses all manner of stealth tactics to stay in the dark and avoid detection as he goes about his merry way.
The new Thief promises to deliver a more dynamic experience for all of us morally grey pocket clearers. If the press release is to be believed, we might have a Witcher style story full of twists and moral conundrums.
Square Enix back in the green but bad news for Lara Croft fans

Despite the rocky year it has been for video game industry (see Sony’s $6.4 billion loss) Square Enix is back in profit. This has been largely attributed to the success of Final Fantasy 13-2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Square’s net sales are up 2.1% from last years 125 billion yen ( £47 million) to 127 billion yen, with an over all profit of 6.06 billion yen. This is a great deal better than last year where Square Enix lost a pretty hefty sum of 12 billion yen.
It would seem that Square Enix has a good year ahead of them with the release of Sleeping Dogs and Hitman: Absolution lined up for later this year. However on the day of the financial announcements it was also announced that the Tomb Raider reboot would not be making an appearance any time this year but has been pushed to a 2013 release date. Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher said that:
““We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve,”
Gallagher did add though that the Tomb Raider reboot will be appearing at this years E3 so we have something to look forward to.

Got a hankering for some Square Enix loving on the cheap? Look no further then, Steam might be your answer. Starting today and running through the 26th, you can grab a plethora of awesome titles to keep even the most jaded of gamers busy. The big mamma jamma is the Square Enix Hit Collection – a whopping package of 36 items for gaming nirvana. It’s got titles like Deus Ex (GOTY Edition, Invisible War and Human Revolution), Dungeon Siege 1-3, Hitman (Blood Money, Silent Assassin, Codename 47), Just Cause 1-2, Kane & Lynch (Dead Men, Dog Days), Tomb Raider (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld, Guardian of Light) and Thief: Deadly Shadows. Been keeping count? I said 36 and so far we’re not there yet, that’s because the rest is a smattering of DLC for a bunch of the games. Buy it all separate and it would run you over $300 but right now it’s a steal at $74.99.
Not your thing? Only want certain bits? A majority of them can be purchased a la carte at up to 75% off. On top of that, every day has a new daily deal. Today is the Hitman Collection. For less than 7 bucks you can swipe up the three aforementioned Hitman titles or again any of them individually for a hefty savings. Heck of a way to flesh out your Steam collection! Check back each day for a new deal, something is bound to catch your peepers!
