Vita getting freebies to tempt U.S. buyers.

Does it bode well for a yet-to-be-released system to have last minute goodies added for launch day? The PS Vita has been a slow burning item over in Japan, being outsold by the 3DS and OG PSP and it looks like Sony is preemptively stacking the deck to jump up sales stateside. Trying to appease early adopters, Sony is adding a 250MB AT&T Data Pass and an unannounced PSN game to the First Edition Bundle that pre-ordering gamers snapped up for $350. That bundle puts the handheld into greedy hands a week early as well as Little Deviants, an 4GB memory card and that limited edition case.

Didn’t pre-order? Well Sony has something in store for you, if you’re willing to trudge out and buy your Vita right there at launch day. $300 will get you a Vita, 250MB of AT&T 3G data, an 8GB memory card and a PSN game. The company is certain this added value bundle will fly off shelves at a lightning pace and suggests eager gamers get their box of fun early. Oh and that free PSN game? Buyers only get it after they activate the 3G on the Vita. Guess it’s a good thing they tossed in that little data card!

Will this chunk of extra love convince any of you geeks to grab a shiny new Vita? Think fellow gamers will flock to stores? Let us know in the comments below!

BlackBerry users getting freebies for outage last week.

BlackBerry users found themselves bereft of their beloved BlackBerry Messaging and emails last week as the service went down to the mat. To make up for the three day outage, RIM will be offering customers a stack of free apps to help soothe the pain. Games like The Sims 3 and Beweled plus apps like Shazam Encore and Photo Editor Ultimate will be among the 12 apps RIM is dishing out. All told the goodwill gesture of digital goodies values at approximately $100.

RIM is also adding another month of their Enhanced BlackBerry Technical Services to currently subscribed Enterprise customers. Enterprise customers not on the plan will be offered a one month trial to also help. Granted it was a short time for the BBM to be down but it’s a nice way for RIM to keep what customers they have left. Any geeks out there rocking a BlackBerry? If so, will this gesture make you feel better about RIM or are you jumping ship? Let us know in the comments! After the break we’ve got the full press release from RIM.
