Samsung boasts a tidy 5 million Galaxy Note II units sold.

What a nice round figure for Samsung, 5 million units of the mega “phablet”, the Galaxy Note II, sold worldwide since its release in September. That’s three months sooner than its precursor, the Note, hit that mark! Not too bad considering most people thought Sammy was plumb nuts releasing a hybrid phone\tablet.
Other good news for the Korean manufacturer shows they may well sell a grand total of 61.5 million Galaxy devices before drunk revelers kiss the wrong person at midnight on New Year’s Eve. 2 million of that is expected to be more Galaxy Note II sales. So far the new Galaxy S III has sold a crushing 30 million devices, 20 million of that within its first 100 days. Thanks to the huge sales push, the GS III became the most popular smartphone in the world, even beating out perennial favorite, the iPhone. Samsung has a lot to be happy about but how long can their tide last?

Apple isn’t done with Samsung just yet, adds Galaxy S III and Note to earlier Nexus complaint.
Last Updated on Monday, 3 September 2012 08:41 Written by LoganDX Monday, 3 September 2012 08:41
After the massive win against Samsung, Apple looks to slit the throat of Samsung. They added new devices to their earlier complaint against the Galaxy Nexus. A total of 21 devices have made their way into the amended complaint, devices ranging from the mid range Captivate Glide to the Galaxy Note to even the “built to avoid lawsuits” Galaxy S III. The full list from the complaint:
These infringing Samsung products include the at least 21 new smartphones, media players, and tablets that Samsung has released beginning in August 2011 and continuing through August 2012. Specifically, Samsung has imported into, offered for sale, or sold in the United States at least the following products, each of which infringes Apple’s patent rights: the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S III – Verizon, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II – T-Mobile, Galaxy S II – AT&T, Galaxy Nexus, Illusion, Captivate Glide, Exhibit II 4G, Stratosphere, Transform Ultra, Admire, Conquer 4G, and Dart smartphones, the Galaxy Player 4.0 and Galaxy Player 5.0 media players, and the Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablets.
The devices are accused of infringing on four Apple patents: ’647 Data Detectors, ’721 Slide to Unlock, ’172 Word Completion and the ’604 Universal Search. The complaint was initially lodged back in February 2012 but the Cupertino company just added the versions of the Note and Galaxy S III. mostly because they’re selling like ice water in hell.
We’ll keep an eye on how Samsung handles this one, expect them to come out swinging though. What do you geeks think about all of this? Is Apple being a good company by claiming it’s “suffering irreparable harm” or just being a bully trying to eliminate competition? Hit those comments and let us hear it!

So the Sprintified version of Samsung’s Galaxy S III didn’t get the launch it was expecting, with the carrier lacking the supply to meet the demands of the eager customer. First the “Key 29″ markets were able to snag a phone and then some online sales slipped through but a nationwide launch was just beyond the grasp of House Hesse. Now the network has hammered down a final, concrete date for a real launch – July 1st. For $200, you can get a 16GB version in store or online while chipping in an extra $50 can net you folks a 32GB model online only.
Get ready Sprint geeks, your time is rapidly approaching! Any of you ready to get your Galaxy S III on? Hit the comments and sound off!

Sorry T-Moble geeks, you might not get that Galaxy S III as soon as you thought!

Seems like the desire for Samsung’s upcoming superphone, the Galaxy S III, might be more than T-Mobile can handle. The carrier has decided to split up their launch to accommodate the tech thirsty throngs. Instead of a full fledged kick off this Thursday, T-Mob will open up the buy lines in 29 markets as well as sliding a limited stock of the device up on T-Mobile.com.
Six days later, the rest of the retail locations are expected to start selling the Galaxy S III, hopefully more will also be up on the website then too. Full, off contract price of the phone will be a hefty $629.99. Prices come down after that, $229.99 after mail-in rebate and depending on plan. Not the price most were looking for, especially with AT&T charging $199.99 upfront.
Hit the break to find out if you happen to live in one of the 29 markets lucky enough for launch…
