First Look At Hugh Jackman And The Wolverine

The next instalment in the X-Men series of films, The Wolverine, has been kept very under wraps. All we’ve seen so far is some pictures of a Japanese prisoner of war camp (in Australia) and a very hairy looking Hugh Jackman. However 20th Century Fox have released the first official photo of The Wolverine in all his adamantium awesomeness.
The Wolverine, directed by James Mangold (3:10 To Yuma), is based around the 1982 limited comic book series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller where Logan travels to Japan to engage a “mysterious figure from his past” (sound familiar?). This figure is Shingen Yashida played by Hiroyuki Sanada, a Yakuza crime boss.Hugh Jackman has spent a lot of time physically preparing for this role, taking advice from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who suggested that he eat around 6000 calories a day. While Wolverine doesn’t look like he has been eating that much he is definitely looking as bad ass a ever. It is set to be released on July 26, 2013. [IGN]

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing coming to PC and XBLA.

That busy vampire slayer Van Helsing is back for another round of monster slaughtering in a new indie title coming to PCs and the Xbox Live Arcade. Developed by Neocore Games, the action RPG stars the offspring of Dracula’s mortal enemy as he battles all manner of demonic beasts in 19th century Europe. Our hero is enlisted by past foes to help rid the land of Borgovia from a menacing force hell bent on destroying the city for an unknown but presumably dark purpose. That’s what demons do, right?
The developer is going with a strikingly dark gothic art style for the game, a style that is looking pretty good from the concept screens released so far. Game play mechanics, weapons etc are unknown so far but expect plenty of action and RPG elements to pop up. The game is expected to drop in Q4 2012 for PC and XBLA. We’re keeping our eyes on this new indie game, it could shape up to be a sleeper hit.

In anticipation of the September 9th release of X-Men: First Class on Blu ray and DVD, our good friends at Fox have given us a couple of the DVD copies to give away to our rabid geeky readers! That’s right, not one but TWO copies for your comic book loving pleasure and it couldn’t be simpler to enter.
After the jump will be a handy refresher on the movie, as well as some tidbits about the movie’s release on disc. I’m going to ask a small, simple trivia question for you guys. Leave you answer in the comments below and at 12 midnight central time Friday, I’ll pick two random winners from the comments. See, it’s simple. One item of note, this will be U.S. only.
