Mew-Genics Not Your typical Cute Cat Game
Last Updated on Tuesday, 26 February 2013 04:27 Written by Laddie13 Tuesday, 26 February 2013 04:27
Let’s face it, we’re all just one step away from being a crazy cat lady. However if you are not ready to own up to it or you suffer from allergies, Team Meat, the makers of the quirky goodness that was Super Meat Boy is bringing a cat lady simulator to life. Mew-Genics will be released to Steam, iOS and Android sometime this year.
Creator Edmund McMillen describes Mew-Genics as blending together elements of, “The Sims and Pokemon with a sprinkling of Animal Crossing and a dash of Tamagotchi.” Don’t let that fool you though, Mew-Genics is at times as sad and tragic as, well, a crazy cat lady.
It all begins with a cat that is unfrozen from its “cryo-cube” state and paired with another for the purposes of mating. Unfortunately, the unthawed cat attacks the other cat while it’s eating and from that moment he associates food with fear and tragically starves to death in an attic.
A narcoleptic stray cat is then brought in and successfully impregnated the cat. An interesting dynamic to the game is that kittens often inherit traits from their parents that will result in failure or success of certain missions. Sadly, two of the kittens inherit the narcolepsy causing one to lose a kitty beauty pageant as a result.
Once the stray cat runs away it is discovered it has infected the unthawed cat with feline aids and since treatments are expensive, the cat is once again placed in its Cryo-cube state. If you choose, there are some missions you can do for a doctor that will help find a cure. The game ends with you, the player being arrested by animal control.
