Apple’s App Store is getting ready to hit their 25 billionth download and to celebrate they’re going to hand out $10,000 to the lucky soul that helps them hit that mark. Yep, just download a silly little app and you can be a part of history and become a thousandaire! That prize money will be in the form of a App Store gift card though. Imagine all the copies of Clear you can snag for friends! Got an iDevice? Hit that store and go for it, no harm in shooting for it!

I get tacky phone calls from sales reps the same as you do. Sometimes I toy with them and make them seem like I am interested just to ultimately screw around with them. (If you are a sales telemarketer that ever called and the woman on the phone acted like they were crazy and heard voices and weren’t sure if you were one of them in her head- I’m sorry it was me.) Sometimes I just hang up on them after I have told them to erase my phone number. Most commonly we all just hang up on them. Now what if you found out the person that you assumed to be leading into a sales pitch on the phone ended up being the VP of iTunes telling you that you had just won a $10,000 iTunes gift card? Apple App Store Closing In On 10 Billion Downloads

I am sure by the time we can get this written the number has gotten even closer. Apple is closing in on the 10th Billion App downloaded from the iTunes Store. They are offering up a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the person that is the lucky download.
At the end of Sep 2009 the App Store was at 2 billion downloads, January 3 billion and with the holidays and new lineups of iPods we can see how quick this number has jumped up. Is there another market that will ever be able to take this amount of traffic? How many apps have you downloaded between phone and iPods? Sound off in the comments below. Apple Hit With Lawsuit Over Apps

Apple has joined with all the other companies that are getting hit for lawsuits and privacy concerns. The new lawsuit alleges that the applications that are downloaded to the iPad and iPhone allow companies to get user information.
The complaint was filed in San Jose, CA where the federal court and plaintiff are seeking class-action status. The suit alleges that the applications that are running on these devices are gathering information about you and transmitting back to the company that created them. Another part of the suit also alleges that these companies are selling this information to the highest bidder.
