Star Wars Xbox 360 bundle is zooming in on April 3rd.

I do believe this is the droid you’re looking for. Nearly a year after it was announced, the Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars bundle will hit shelves. Remember that one? The Xbox 360 that looks like a smashed R2-D2 and the C-3PO controller and comes with the spiffy white Kinect? Yeah, that one. Well it finally has an official release date, one confirmed by Major Nelson. On April 3rd, those strong with the Force can spend 450 credits on the 320GB slim version that also comes with the Kinect Star Wars game. Coming along for the ride will also be the standard Kinect Adventures.

The Major also outlined some of the new additions to the Kinect Star Wars, like Jedi Destiny mode. Space battles and Landspeeders will be available for budding Jedi to engage in Sith smackdowns. Duel against Dark Side heavy hitters like Count Dooku and Darth Vader. Geeks can always take a break from donkey punching the Empire and get down in the Galactic Dance Off. Show up Vader on the dance floor or go “Solo” style to hone those chick magnet skills. Let’s just hope the game has gotten better since the last time it was shown off.

Star Wars: The Old Republic breaks MMO record!

Four days, four short days and Star Wars: The Old Republic went and became the fastest MMO in history to hit a million players. Since the game’s official launch on the 20th, SW:TOR has accumulated those million plus strong, 28 million hours of logged playtime and 3.8 million characters. Broken down, that’s an average of five hours per day per player, with over one million characters wielding lightsabers. It must be true about the Dark Side having cookies as the Sith order holds 40,000 more members than their Jedi counterparts. Oh and over two billion NPCs have been sent to their deaths courtesy of the blood thirsty players. Time for a career change extras!

BioWare co-founder, Dr. Ray Muzyka, was needless to say ecstatic over the milestone. In the coming months and even years, BioWare and EA plan on delivering tons of new content and features to the already stellar experience for users and lovers of the Force. Also worthy of note: unlike most big time MMOs, SW:TOR has been relatively headache free. No major downtime, server malfunctions or other nonsense to keep gamers screaming at their computers. Maybe it’s time I gave this MMO business another look see if that’s the case. Any geeks out there plowing through The Old Republic? If so, what’s your take on it? Hit up the comments and let us know!

George Lucas uses a “Jedi Mind Trick” to Force Company to Change its Name, Literally

image

“The force is strong with this one.”, especially true with George Lucas. The brain behind the Star Wars franchise recently filed a trademark infringement lawsuit with Jedi Mind, a company that allows its users to control their computers through brain waves, no I am dead serious.

It appears lawsuit started in May 2009 when Lucasfilm learned of the company using the term, “jedi mind tricks”, for their business. A cease and desist letter was sent out, followed by another in September 2009 since the company did nothing to change its references, contrary to JM stating they would comply to Lucasfilm’s requests.

Today on then Jedi Mind’s website, they just sent out a statement saying they would change their name to Mind Technologies INC, to avoid any infringement issues regarding Lucasfilm.

In case you are wondering how can I run my computer through my brain waves (still seems funny I actually said that) is MTI uses specific type of wireless headsets to send brain waves to the computer, even working to play certain video games.

I haven’t always spoken the greatest on George Lucas (due to the last Indiana Jones catastrophe), I will now think twice. Be afraid, be very afraid.
