Kevin Butler, Sony’s fictional VP finally, gets immortalized in a game. If you Pre-order LittleBigPlanet Karting you will receive a free Kevin Butler DLC Pack which includes Butler as a playable sack boy character as well as an executive golf cart to race in. GameStop and Amazon are currently offering the Kevin Butler bonus DLC but it’s pretty certain other retailers will as well. LittleBigPlanet Karting releases later this year.
No word yet if the DLC also comes with accidental tweets containing PS3 unlock keys but hey, anything can happen! Read more: Kevin Butler DLC, It Only Does Kart Racing

PlayStation 3 also had a birthday this week in case you forgot.

With all the hub bub surrounding the 10 year celebration of Xbox, many geeks and gamers might have forgotten about the PlayStation 3‘s Fifth birthday. On November 17th 2006, the ebony shined PS3 came crashing down onto North American retail shelves. It was a slightly different affair back then as even the most hardcore of PS fanboys were thrown into a fit over the two different models to choose from, neither of which were very cheap. The faithful did indeed line the sidewalks for days prior to the launch though, investing a considerable amount of money into Sony’s wonder machine. As with all console launches there were problems, robbings, lack of units to fill pre-orders, etc. but the machine still enthralled all who gazed at it.
The last five years have given us Infamous, Uncharted, Resistance, Little Big Planet, a host of updated sequels and some jaw dropping PS2 remakes. We fell in love with the blu ray format and learned to love each other (sometimes quite literally) in PlayStation Home and we even helped crack the mysteries of the human body with Folding@Home. We even saw the return of the DualShock controller. It hasn’t been all roses and chocolates though. We had the Leap Year bug, causing gamers to lose trophies and saves while Sony stayed mum. We lost backwards compatibility with each new version of the deck. Linux was taken away as hackers found nefarious ways to use the Dual-OS option. We lost the PlayStation Network for an agonizing month after hackers tore down the network and we lost faith in Sony as they stayed way too quiet way too long.

PSN Outage Is Exactly What We Thought
Last Updated on Tuesday, 14 June 2011 12:52 Written by LoganDX Saturday, 23 April 2011 07:00
Finally on Friday Sony explained, well sorta, what’s been going on the last week with the PlayStation Network. PSN users have been experiencing wide-spread sign-in failures for over a week now with no explanation from Sony. On Wednesday, visitors trying to log-in to the PlayStation website were greeted with a wonderful “Under Maintenance” notice, but nothing more. Rumors swirled around the Internet, “OMG H4ck3rs” mostly. And now we know, yep hackers.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Patrick Seybold Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media informed visitors that “an external intrusion” was the culprit behind the lackluster performance of PSN and Qriocity. Sony then decided on Wednesday to take the whole system down to test, verify and secure. Which begs the question, why did it take so long? This has been ongoing since the last attack by Anonymous with the more severe problems showing this past week. Why, why did Sony let it get so bad?

Kinect! It’s Not Just For Xbox Anymore
Last Updated on Wednesday, 23 March 2011 04:52 Written by Daniel Wednesday, 23 March 2011 04:30
Kevin Butler may be able to take on Chuck Norris in a cool internet facts fight, but it seems he can not go toe to toe with Shantanu Goel. For those of you not in the know, Shantanu is the man who just managed to do something amazing with the xbox Kinect.
Last month you would of had to decide between getting Kinect for the Xbox or Move for the Ps3. Shantanu decided he didn’t like those options and opted to get the Kinect on his Ps3. That’s right he managed to combine the two to create a super device that can conquer the world… Or at least your living room.
It’s still in early development, but if you check out the video you can see it recognize basic gestures. Quickly push your hand toward the screen twice to activate the X button or even the usual waving like on xbox to navigate your menus which is perfect for the Ps3 menu. As said before this is still a very very early project, but Shantanu has said that he is already working on improving it and making it even more compatable to possibly allow him to replace the Move all together and use it in his games. Imagine with me if you will holding an invisible gun in Killzone3 or pretending to throw a grenade and blowing things up with out a controller of any kind. Read on for video…
