Mystery HTC slider has hit the FCC
Last Updated on Monday, 4 October 2010 04:13 Written by The Geek Monday, 6 September 2010 07:00
A few weeks ago we posted on a new slider phone that was caught in the wild. Not a lot of specs were revelead about the mystery device other than it was a global Android device on Verizon. This mystery phone has hit the FCC with some nice pics of it.
Not a ton can be told from these pics but you can see that it is sporting Verizon colors. It has a 4″ screen and full QWERTY keyboard. The model number on this device is HTC PD42100 but no name is specified quite yet. It looks like a hybrid EVO, HTC Desire, and the upcoming G2 all mushed up together. We will keep you posted on this bad boy and in the meantime drool all over our desk about it. Whats your thoughts?

Samsung Fascinate hands on. Updated with better video
Last Updated on Wednesday, 29 September 2010 06:43 Written by The Geek Wednesday, 1 September 2010 12:31
Just got our Samsung Fascinate in and I have to say I am impressed. Right out of the box I noticed the beautiful display. The phone came with all the standard accessories (usb charger, and phone). Check out the full review below.
The display is the first thing you notice here. We were working with it unactivated so we had to bypass the activation. The phone has a Super AMOLED display, 4.0″ screen running 480×800 16 million color screen. The main unlock screen seemed kinda fun from the standard (shown in the pic).
The Fascinate is running a 1GHz Hummingbird processor which seemed to keep up with everything we were trying to do to it. It did seem snappier than my Droid X.
The camera works well and pictures show up great with the AMOLED display. The phone has a 5 megapixel camera, but does do 720p video for the camcorder. It also has auto focus and LED flash.
One thing we found weird was the Android device does not have Google maps or search. It comes out of the box with Vz Navigator ($9.99a month) and Bing as the search. After playing with it we did find that you can download Google Maps, but you will be using Bing as your search.
One of the big arguements was the Onboard memory. It is verified at 512MB Flash/384MB RAM with 2GB internal memory.
The Fascinate does ship with Android 2.1 but buzz is already saying update rumored for late Sep.
So to sum up, we really like the device. If your looking for an Android device this is really one to take a look at before you purchase. More pics and video to come.
