How cool would it have been if the original Matrix trilogy was in 3D. The epic fight scenes, the matrix cam, it would have been so awesome. Well, fans of the series may be able to see just that in a few years time if two other movies are made. While nothing is final yet, Keanu Reeves said in a Keynote speech to the London School of Performing Arts that there two scripts written for a Matrix 4 and 5.
The writers of the trilogy, the Wachowskis, have discussed with James Cameron, the director of Avatar, to discuss the 3D aspect of it. On top of that, Reeves said that he would be returning to the roll of Neo in the next two movies. More information after the break.

Retro Review: Matrix (1999)

The Matrix was one of those movies that was just that damn good, and then they had to make sequels. Personally, I thought the movie was great but the trilogy, I really could have done without. The Matrix deals with a computer hacker and some rebels that take on the machine known as the Matrix.
Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) is a computer programmer leading a double life as a computer hacker known as “Neo”. Neo spends all his free time trying to answer the question, “What is the Matrix?” Through a series of cryptic answers and adventures Neo is confronted by three agents of the Matrix. Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) begins to have suspicions about Neo and gives him an ultimatum: either he lives as Thomas Anderson or he lives as Neo. Agent Smith then inserts a bug into Neo in order to track him.
Neo is contacted by an underground group lead by Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss). Morpheus tells Neo that he can make him understand but that it has to be his choice to be free. Neo chooses that he wants to be free. As he wakes up, Neo realizes that The Matrix was a computer program but he won’t understand until Morpheus pushes him to understand it. Morpheus’s ship the Nebuchadnezzar, picks up a helpless Neo just as he loses conscious.
As Neo comes too, Morpheus introduces him to everyone. Morpheus believes that Neo is “The One”. The one who will bring an end to the Matrix. Neo is put into a training environment where he “uploads software” into his brain. He quickly learns how to fight and perform martial arts. He tells Morpheus that he has learned how to fight and the two quickly duel. It is here that Morpheus tells Neo about “Residual Self-Image”, how we think of ourselves inside the Matrix. Morpheus challenges Neo to think outside of the box, because he is not bound by the same rules that a computer deals with. He can be faster and stronger than any agent.
Morpheus takes Neo to see the Oracle so that she can tell him what he needs to do. As they make their way back to the base to leave the Matrix, they are sold out by a member of their own team, Cypher (Joe Pantoliano) and the agents are waiting for them. Morpheus sacrifices himself to save Neo.
Neo and Trinity escape and Trinity decides to return to Zion, the only human refuge left in the world. Neo begins to doubt the information that the Oracle gave him, when she told him that he was not “The One” and was not anything special. Neo decides that he can save Morpheus and goes into the Martix after him. Trinity decides that she will go with him because he can not do it alone.
Neo and Trinity take on the Matrix and the agents and end up freeing Morpheus. They run to a phone line that will serve as an escape line to leave the Matrix. Morpheus and Trinity make it out but the phone is destroyed by Agent Smith before Neo can get out. Neo decides that he can take the agent and the two square off. They both use all the bullets in their guns and start hand to hand fighting. Neo feels outmatched and flees.
As he is being chased by the agents, he grabs a cell phone and calls the operator of the Nebuchadezzar, Tank (Macus Chong). Tank instructs Neo to a nearby exit that they hve used previously. Agent Smith recognizes where Neo is going and beats him there. As Neo runs down the halls of an old apartment building, dodging gunfire from the other agents, he opens a door where a telephone is ringing. When he opens that door, Agent Smith shoots him in the chest. Neo takes the bullets and stumbles backwards into the hallway, Agent Smith shoots more bullets into his chest and Neo dies.
At this point, the Nebuchadnezzur is also under attack. By accepting Neo’s call they had to broadcast themselves and the Matrix sent in its Sentinels to destroy the ship. Trinity realizes that she loves/loved Neo. She tells his dead body how she feels. As she tells Neo this, he comes back to life and the Matrix realizes that he is “The One.” The agents all shoot their guns at him but Neo stops the bullets just by raising his hand. Agent Smith tries to fight him again but Neo is too fast for him. Neo kicks Agent Smith to the end of the hallway sand then umps into his body. As Neo flexes his power, he explodes Agent Smith and the other two agents run. Neo sprints back down the hall and grabs the phone just as Morpheus releases an electro-magnetic pulse, destroying the sentinels.
The closing scene shows Neo making a phone call that the Matrix cannot trace. Neo tells the Matrix that he is no longer afraid and that he will destroy the machine. He hangs up the phone and flies off.
