Look Out! Ms. Splosion Man Has TMS!

Okay, well TMS stands for Title Managed Storage, which is Twisted Pixel’s clever way of turning up the heat on Ms. Splosion Man players.  The fiendish developers will use the TMS service to allow gamers to hop into some new challenges. The goal, besides not throwing your controller, is to finish well enough to get on the leaderboards. Highest ranking player will win some special goodies. These challenges are available for anyone who dropped some coin on the game and are available right on the main menu, as long as the contest is still going on. Yes, that’s right, each challenge has a window of time for players to sign on, play and qualify. It might not be quiet as bad as another acronym that ends in ‘MS’ but on the other hand, this IS Twisted Pixel.

The first challenge is based upon the goofballs over at Destructoid with some sweet D-Toid and Ms. Splosion Man swag on the line. The top three spots will win themselves a prize pack consisting of a D-Toid bobblehead and a light up statue of our pink protagonist, as well as shirts and posters. One random sploder will win score a Twisted Pixel prize pack, whatever that may be. Remember when I said earlier there’s a time frame? It’s a short one here, only ten days! Get cracking because the contest ends July 31st. As a side bonus, a new DLC level for Spolsion Man is available to download, for free! Twisted Pixel claims more themed challenges are on the way, how about a DHTG level? Hit the break and check out the press release and some new pictures, including the swag-tastic prizes!

Geek Review: Ms. Splosion Man [VIDEO]

Time to dust off those platforming skills and ingest copious amounts of energy drinks because Ms. Splosion Man has sploded onto the Xbox 360. Birthed from the manic minds at Twisted Pixel, Ms. Splosion Man is a thumb wrenching, nerve-wracking monster platformer just like Splosion Man. The old adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kinda works here. Not to say that the developers painted Splosion Man Pink and tossed a pretty bow on him but the fundamental mechanics are still here.

The core gameplay of the Splosion games is simple in theory but very tough to master. At their heart, they’re side scrolling puzzle platformers but instead of jumping, the main character “splodes”.  Sploding is multipurpose, acting as a means of locomotion, as a minor combat ability and as a general wrecking ball. By allowing the player only three in air splodes, Twisted Pixel keeps gamers on their toes by making them use the splodes logically. This also ties the puzzle aspect in because the missus can’t just go jumping all willy-nilly.

In turn, Ms. Splosion Man will have a virtual Pinball FX 2 machine in her arcade for gamers to jump into some pinball goodness.

Twisted Pixel and Zen Studios are two of the most imaginative XBLA developers out there, providing fan favorite games and crazy fun.
